How Thai Students In China Use Chinese Social Media-WeChat Application In The Perspective Of Intercultural-Communication

Social media is quite popular and everybody use it especially in digital work.For oversea students,they also use some local social media and I will focus on Thai students that come to China and would like to use local social media.It is certain that the usage of social media facilitates intercultural exchange as well as improving ones understanding of China.This thesis aims to foray into two issues:(1)The usage behavior of WeChat(China's most popular social media platform)by Thai students in China.(2)If the usage of WeChat application has positively influenced their ability to understand Chinese culture as well as other forms of cultural exchange.WeChat application that as local social media maybe important instrument to help people who has arrived in China for understanding and the adaptation China of each person.The methodology with which this research is undertaken are as follows:(1)Quantitative research which involved the use of questionnaire for data collection from 198 samples selected by simple random sampling.Statistical applications are frequency,percentage,means,and standard deviation for data analysis.(2)Qualitative research is used in-depth interview for data assembly by 10 random sampling.The answers from in-depth interview is used to explain the result of WeChat usage among Thai students who are studying in China in the perspective of intercultural-communication.The result of in-depth analysis reveals that a good number of Thai students studying in China have more than three-year experience of using Chinese social media platforms particularly WeChat application.Recently,the number of Thai students in China who use WeChat application has increased significantly.According to most Thai students WeChat users in China,they are satisfied with WeChat application.In China,they regularly use WeChat application in communicating with Chinese friends and relatives.In addition,they also use WeChat application to facilitate their daily life in other aspects.Thus,WeChat application is beneficial for learning Chinese culture and Chinese language among Thai students.Conclusively,several features of WeChat application can enable users to further understand intercultural competence.Therefore,I am of the opinion that the usage of local social media by foreign students may significantly improve their ability to understand local cultures and languages in a short period of time.
