The Laura Haygood Normal School in Suzhou,established in 1902,is a church school established by foreign missionaries.Laura Haygood Normal School,like the other church schools,was an institution that was completely separated from the traditional Chinese education system and was established and managed by foreigners.Most teachers are composed of foreign missionaries.In order to better teach,the school has listed the Bible as a required course.Since the 1920s,with the rise of the nationalist movement,China has revitalized the right to education and promoted the process of sinicization of church schools.The Chinese government has strengthened the registration and management of church schools.Therefore,in August 1932,Laura Haygood Normal School was placed on file at the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.Laura Haygood Normal School focuses on the development of teachers,especially teachers for young children.The curriculum is more reasonable.The school adopts advanced Western teaching methods and is more in line with the laws of children's physical and mental development.After 1951,Laura Haygood Normal School was taken over by the Chinese government and gradually grouped.Overall,the Laura Haygood Normal School has cultivated a group of outstanding women on the one hand,and on the other hand,as a church school in the early days,there were limitations in curriculum setting and fees.
