Since the modern times, a tremendous transform of Chinese society promotes the appearance of modern female education and the awakeness of female self-awareness. Along with the beginning of female employment, professional women have come into being and gradually enter the social stage. Suzhou city possesses a centuries-old historical cultural tradition and a superior geographical situation, which makes it walked the forerunner of this vogue transform. The appearance and development of modern female education promote the beginning of modern female teacher community in Suzhou. They are all well-educated and been provided with high cultural accomplishment. Besides, the profession they were engaged in also won higher prestige for them. No matter their living style, social class or social influence was all different from the former female community and as well as from the other female professional community in society. As the professional female, they began to break away from the tradition of clinging to the male and make a living on their own. Because they had the economic income and freedom hence their social role had taken on its new signification already.First of all, this thesis introduces the backgrounds of the appearance of Suzhou modern female teacher community. That is, the beginning of modern female education and female employment. And then, it followed by the description and analysis of this group. Next, this thesis introduces the lifestyle of the modern instructress in Suzhou from the aspects of both their family and employment conditions. And their living standard and professional status were reflected according to the above. At the same time, it discusses the dilemma about her choice between family and career. The last part of this thesis mainly focuses on the communication and interaction between Suzhou female teacher and the society. Then with the coming of several enlightened female teachers in modern Suzhou, this displays the tremendous contribution the modern Suzhou female teachers made to education and social enterprise of modern Suzhou. It also described that, as a new type of female, Suzhou modern female teachers participated in various social activities, positively outside the family and workplace. They played a positive part and their social influences can not be overlooked. The professional female enters into society, and its former hidden contribution begins to emerge in society. This reflects the improvement of the whole society's civilization degree to some extent.
