With the arrival of the information age in the 21st century,new requirements for the cultivation of talents have been put forward.Nowadays,it has become a basic requirement to cultivate talents' ability of acquiring information effectively.As a kind of information carrier,map has been widely used in daily life,geography teaching and scientific research activities.Meanwhile,it has been one of the crucial tools that the modern talents must master and use.And with the advancement of new curriculum reform,quality education has become the final goal of the present education.And also,quality-oriented education in geography subject embodied in core geographic literacy was proposed and has been seriously,and as well as the map literacy which is an important part of the core geographic literacy.As the other countries pay special attention to the research of map literacy training,the research of domestic geographic literacy has been also enriched,and there are lots of strategies for the cultivation of literacy.However,there are few researches which are used to cultivate the middle school students' map literacy through geographical knowledge chart design.And the researches on special classes are similar to map literacy researches.The researches on special classes at home and abroad are all already quite mature.Special classes in many subjects teaching are studied,such as Chinese,maths,English,history and etc.but in terms of geography curriculum project study sessions are very few,especially in the case of geographic knowledge chart feature classes.Therefore,based on the current situation of the researches of map literacy and geography knowledge chart,the author embarks from the current level of middle school students' literacy and the present conditions of the current map literacy of middle school students,then found that the map literacy level of high school student still needs to be improved,and meanwhile,analyses the causes.On this basis,puts forward some strategies to foster high school students' real map literacy--add special classes middle school geography knowledge chart,and combined with the content of map literacy of middle school geography knowledge chart to build special classes,for the middle school geography lesson knowledge chart project from the design principle,teaching target,content,design for building,and through the analysis of the case teaching.The practical teaching effect is further studied by the implementation and analysis of the case teaching of geography map.
