Ruler and compasses is an important way geometry in junior middle school,which occupies an important position in the junior middle school geometry teaching.And it is an important way of training students' manipulative ability and logical thinking ability.In the “compulsory education mathematics curriculum standard(2011 Edition)”,there are specific teaching requirements for the rule and compasses,and the various provinces examine rule and compasses are diverse in senior high school entrance examination.According to the characteristics of the propositions in the Shanxi Province senior high school entrance examination and the knowledge points exercises in the textbook,the author write the test and questionnaire by reading and sorting out literature about ruler and compasses,collecting the knowledge about ruler and compasses of grade seven and eight,and combining the requirements of compulsory education curriculum standard.This investigation selected two middle schools in Xi'an.Through the prediction and measured two aspects,the purpose is to understand the status quo of ruler and compasses ability of junior middle school.Through this investigation and study,we get the conclusion that students' ruler and compasses ability are poor.Students have the following problems.They not grasps five basic drawings,lacks enough understanding of “ruler”,are not clear about the basic principles of ruler and compasses,don't distinguish between ruler and compasses and general geometric drawing,and haven't good habit of drawing.The author analyzed the influence factors of ruler and compasses ability of junior middle school students from the three aspects of teaching materials,teachers and students.And the author think that the requirement and content arrangement of teaching materials,the importance and teaching method of teachers,and the foundation and interest of students' geometric learning can influence junior middle school students' ruler and compasses ability.According to the influence factors of ruler and compasses and the typical mistakes of students,we put forward several targeted teaching suggestions for students' problems with the help of teachers.In the teaching process,we should pay attention to the ideological penetration method and improve students' drawing consciousness;Strengthening the research and practice of teaching materials,and teach holistically;Strengthening the variant drawing teaching and improving the drawing analysis ability;Integrating ruler and compasses mathematical culture and improving students' interest in drawing.Strengthening the cultivation of students' drawing habits;Paying attention to carry out the drawing analysis evaluation.
