At present,in the biological teaching area of junior middle school,the improper teaching of biological history,the lack of philosophical thinking in the exploration of biological sciences,and the lack of cultivation of humanistic cultivation in biology courses have seriously hindered the improvement of learners' biological science literacy.Biology courses are an important area of science education and enhancing the learner's biological science literacy is the core task of implementing the biological curriculum standards.HPS is an abbreviation for the history of science,philosophy of science,and sociology of science.The HPS-based junior high school biology teaching emphasizes the development of critical thinking in the reproduction of biological history,focusing on grasping the essence of life science in problem analysis,and advocating the cultivation of humanistic spirit in social contexts.It is an effective way to improve the learners' biological science literacy.Firstly,according to the requirement of the new biological curriculum standard,characteristics of biology and characteristics of adolescent learners in the compulsory education phase of our country,this paper puts forward the principles of junior high school biology teaching design based on HPS,using the HPS education model and the inquiry teaching model of Munch and Osborne,the HPS-based junior high school biology teaching design model was constructed,including the determination of teaching objectives,problem exploration and diversified teaching evaluation.Then,the general procedures for the implementation of junior high school biology teaching based on HPS is summarized:demonstration of biological phenomena,setting questions and stimulating suspicions;leading to a variety of perspectives by brainstorming;learning biological history and guiding students to explore actively;presenting scientific ideas and empirical test;generating dialogue speculation and reflecting on the philosophy enlightenment.Finally,based on HPS,a case of junior high school biology teaching was designed:"human reproduction" and "blood circulation approach".Using the method of experimental research,together with the participating biological teachers,we conducted a three-month teaching practice on the two parallel classes in the seventh grade of Hengshan Fourth Middle School,and from two academic performance tests,interview of teachers and students,classroom observations of the experimental class and the control class,and scientific literacy questionnaires before and after the experimental class were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching.The conclusion of this study:The junior high school biology teaching based on the HPS model has a significant role in promoting students' scientific essence,critical thinking,and humanistic quality improvement.At the same time,it can improve students' learning attitude,teacher's teaching,and students' academic performance.This article provides new ideas for the cultivation of learners' science literacy in junior high school biology teaching,and it has certain theoretical reference value and practical guidance significance.
