The Significance Of Student Symphony Orchestra To Music Education In Middle School

These days,music education is becoming more and more important in China.And as there are more and more students learning to play an instrument at an early age,student symphony orchestra is playing a vital role in music education.The student orchestra is a special form of music instrument education.Although what teachers teach in an orchestra is how to play music,in fact,what students can learn in an orchestra is usually much more than that.Students can improve their general ability like cooperative ability and music appreciation.In an orchestra,students are required to play with others to make music sound beautiful.In this way,students will understand more about music,have more interest in music and then improve their music skills.Now in China,some student orchestras have made great achievement,but as a whole,most of the student orchestras in China face a lot of problems,and have a huge gap with student orchestras in Europe and America.To make our student orchestras in China develop further and bridge the gap in the future,firstly we need to make sure the significance of student orchestra to middle school and primary school music education,which is also the significance of this dissertation.The current situation is usually closely related to the history.As a result,this dissertation starts with the history development of student orchestra in America and China in literature survey.In this part,the author tries to find the significance of student orchestra through the history development,and to find what we can learn through the comparison of America and China.Then,the author tries to find an appropriate position for student orchestra of China today in both history and music education.After that,the author does practical investigation to two student orchestras in Guangzhou : the Skylark Symphony Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra with questionnaire and interviews.The investigation finds that the orchestra students tend to have better music appreciation towards orchestral music,especially what they learn in their orchestra,than other students.Student orchestra can also help students improve their cooperative ability.The students of Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra tend to have better cooperative ability and the Skylark Symphony Orchestra.After analysis of the investigation finding,the author gives a conclusion: student orchestra plays a very important role in music education.And regards of the problems student orchestra in China have today,the author gives some suggestion: on the one hand,make the education department cooperate more with professional musicians,to train qualified teachers in both music teaching and administration,and to provide students with more opportunities to know more about good music playing;on the other hand,learn more from other countries,encourage students to develop more about themselves like administrating the orchestra by students,and encourage student families give better support.
