Probability and statistics are closely related to life.The discipline contains random thoughts.It studies the random phenomena in life and has special characteristics in middle school mathematics.This is the starting point for the author to study probability and statistics.Probability statistics are included in the middle school mathematics curriculum,and have the same important status as "number and algebra" and "geometry and graphics".The formulation of the "High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards" clearly explains the specific content and curriculum objectives of probability and statistics teaching,and emphasizes the importance of probability and statistics for people's lives.Therefore,how to further improve the teaching effect of probability statistics in high school has become a very important issue.In this article,the author will start with investigations in three areas: students,teachers,and teaching materials.Specifically,the author read a large amount of literature to understand the curriculum requirements for this part of the "High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards" and the chapter arrangements in the PEP mathematics textbooks;Finding and summarizing the course content of mathematics probability statistics for primary and secondary schools in the United States.In addition,the author selected several mathematics teachers and senior students from several high schools in Xi'an,Shaanxi Province to conduct surveys.Through the results of the questionnaire survey,the current situation of students and teachers in probability and statistics were analyzed.But the author believes that analysis of the above two aspects does not fully reflect the problems in teaching of probability statistics.For this reason,the author also investigates how mathematics teachers and students view mathematics as a concept of mathematics.The problems are given and the corresponding suggestions are given.Finally,this article uses the section“Classical Models of Probability in the probability statistics section of high school as an example to design lesson plans,in order to apply the conclusions to teaching practice.
