The quality of teacher-student interaction which acts an important role in the dimension of teacher evaluation has a direct impact on Teachers' teaching quality and students' academic achievement.Establishing a standard evaluation system based on classroom interaction is particularly important for teacher evaluation.It cost fifteen years for the University of Virginia in the United States to research and develop the Classroom Assessment Scoring System(CLASS).The system focuses on the interaction between teachers and students,and evaluates teachers' teaching quality by evaluating the quality of teacher-student interaction,thus promoting students' academic progress.The development of CLASS system has gone through three stages: The development of research tool is based on attachment theory;From the perspective of teacher-student interaction,three dimensions of observation scale which are emotional support,class management and teaching support is formulated;Lastly a complete evaluation scoring system has been formed and improved,thus promoting the development of teachers.The overall evaluation framework of the CLASS system comes into being six versions based on the students' stages,they are Infant,Toddler,Pre-K,K-3,Upper elementary,and Secondary.The whole assessment system is divided into three major areas: emotional support,class management,teaching support with 10-12 indicators.It uses 7 points system to score three grades: low level(1-2),moderate level(3-5)and high level(6-7).To observe and guide the teaching of teachers by professional trainers(observers and coaches).What's more,there is MTP(My Teaching Partner)——to improve the quality of interaction between teachers and students and provide three types of teacher-student interaction resources: video library resources,MTP courses,and Web-mediated Coaching.The following four features are presented in the CLASS system : First,the CLASS system has integrity and maneuverability;Second,the CLASS system emphasizes the combination of evaluation and professional development;Third,The CLASS system pays attention to the establishment of video database;Fourth,CLASS system has timely feedback and development.How to effectively evaluate the quality of teachers' classroom teaching requires a complete and systematic assessment tool,and it is CLASS which is a classroom observation tool that has just filled thegap.Based on the analysis of the content framework and characteristics,the reference value of CLASS is embodied in four aspects: First,combining the evaluation and teacher professional development;Second,Establishing an operational assessment tool;Third,evaluating the perspective of multi teacher assessment;Fourth,reflecting "helping the new with the old" and developing professional advisors;Fifth,learning to reflect on the reference and putting into practice.
