One of the biggest challenges in American education today is how to promote inexperienced,new or young teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of their students.Teachers must be adequately trained from the first day into the classroom.The research object of the paper is educative Teacher Performance Assessment(edTPA)system and it explores backgrounds,purposes,standards and processes,features,positive effects and problems of edTPA system,with the expectation to provide reference to improve the evaluation of student teachers during their internship in China.The paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which includes the reasons of choosing the topic,conceptual definition,research methods,literature review and research ideas.The second chapter analyzes the background of edTPA system.The background of edTPA system mainly includes the guiding role of the American education policy,the new challenges the American education faced,and the need to improve the quality of American teacher preparation programs.The third and fourth chapters respectively analyze the purposes,standards and implementation processes of edTPA system according to the logic of why it is used,what does it evaluate and how does it is implemented.The purposes of edTPA mainly include:promoting the professional growth of student teachers,improving students’ learning outcomes,providing guidance for the improvement and updating of teacher preparation programs,and promoting the teachers’ professional development.edTPA system is a three-degree evaluation indicator system:first-level indicators include three dimensions:plan,teaching and evaluation;each first-level indicators is divided into five second-level indicators,and each second-level indicator is divided into five levels.The implement of edTPA system is divided into two steps:the preparatory stage and the evaluation stage.During the preparation stage,student teachers should apply for evaluation,be familiar with the evaluation,then collect the materials and submit the materials.After student teachers submit the evaluation materials,evaluators assess the portfolio submitted by the student teachers.The fifth chapter analyzes the futures and the implementation effects of edTPA system.The study found that the futres of edTPA system mainly include:the specialization of evaluators,operability and consistency of evaluation criteria,emphasizing self-reflection of student teachers and feedback of evaluation results.The study found that the positive effects of edTPA system include:promoting the professional growth of student teachers,prormoting the continuous improvement of teacher preparation programs,instructing the identification of teacher qualifications or teacher preparation programs;The main problems include:lack of dynamic comprehensiveness evaluation,lack of representativeness of the evaluators,and the lack of authority as it uses the teaching video clips as the main tool.The sixth chapter analyzes the problem of evaluating student teachers during their internship in our country,we could get enlightenment from edTPA system.Learning from the experience of edTPA system,we can improve the evaluation of normal students during their internship from the following aspects:The first one is to ensure the professionalization of evaluators;the second one is to construct a concrete and effective evaluation standards system;the third one is to attach importance to the evaluation of process and feedback,the fourth one is to improve the implementation of evaluation support system.
