Research On The Negative Influences And Countermeasures Of Materialist Values On The College Students' Thoughts And Behaviors

With the rapid development of Western capitalist industrial revolution,materialist values gradually become the mainstream of the people.The rapid development of the productive forces has led to great abundance of materials and the unprecedented development of human material civilization.Since the 1980s,there has been a quiet revolution in the Western capitalist world.The masses of society have gradually shifted from materialist values to post-materialist values.With the deepening of the reform and opening up,the Western materialist values have flowed into Chinese society in an all-round way.The pursuit of material is stimulated,and the material possession has become one of the important factors for people to measure their success.The rapid development of Chinese society has not changed the status quo in which China is and will remain in the initial stage of socialism for a long time.Since the development of China is unbalanced and inadequate,Chinese society is still in the early stages of the transition of materialist values to post-materialist values,and the mainstream of the people is still the materialist values.As the pillars of the country,college students are deeply influenced by materialist values.In view of this,this article intends to study the materialist values of college students,aiming to cultivate college students' healthy psychology and sound personality,then provide a methodological path for family social schools and college students.In this paper,we adopt the method of empirical research to investigate the tendency of college students' materialist values through questionnaires and analyze how does it affect the thoughts and behaviors of college students,and put forward countermeasures and suggestions.Firstly,this article elaborates the status quo of research on materialist values,analyzes the connotation of materialist values and related theories as well as the development course and trends of materialist values.Secondly,through combining empirical research methods we explored the influence of materialist values on the thoughts and behaviors of college students,the results show that:(1)The overall level of the materialist values of college students is good.(2)The results of demographic variables show that there are significant differences in materialist values in terms of gender,place of student source,whether children are the only child,and the total monthly household income.(P<0.05).(3)We selected the college students who score high on materialist values to inspect the influence of college students' materialist values on their thoughts and behaviors.It was found that the materialist values had a negative influence on their behaviors of consumption,political thoughts,political behaviors and social violations.Finally,combining the results of investigations and researches,we analyzed the concrete manifestations and causes of the negative effects of materialist values on the thoughts and behaviors of college students.And combining the results of researches,it guides the thoughts and behaviors of college students from four aspects:individual,family,university,and society.
