The Theoretical Basis And Empirical Study Of The New Age Group About Population

"Age",as the basic symbol of the population,is often an important indicator of people's life.Although age is an objective expression of the natural attributes of the population,at the same time,age also represents different social norms and carries important social significance.Therefore,the issues of age definition,classification standard and social identity have been hot topics in academic circles.Of course,the cognition and classification standards of age should be adapted to the demographic background of the age,and the age classification should be adjusted to the new changes of the times.The three age groups classified methods put forward since the 1950 s by UN has been used.With the new changes of population development characteristics happened in recent years,there are critical voices.The "five age group" is the most typical representative,and also refers to the "new population age group" in this paper.Under the condition that the new age group has not been widely discussed,it is the focus of this paper that the population conditions of the new population age group are mature and the classification standards are reasonable.This paper analyzes the rationality and necessity of the classification of the new age group on the basis of the life cycle theory and the second demographic transition theory.And by examining the changes of the population statistics indexes such as the life expectancy,higher education enrollment,the average education years,labor participation rate of older people,marriage age and childbearing age,these point out some tendencies of decline in the population working years,shortened reproductive cycle,and the longer elderly living cycle,which tells the backgrounds of the new age group classification.At the same time,based on the clustering analysis of relevant indicators,the conclusion that the population conditions proposed by the new age group are mature and the classification standards tend to be reasonable is drawn.Taking the life cycle theory as the perspective,the combination of qualitative description and quantitative research will provide a new rational explanation for the new age group classification and make further academic thinking.The new age group,because of its reality,will have a huge impact on the current traditional age concept,and will challenge the current population policies.This paper discusses the rationality and universality of the new population age group from the perspective of demography and the current population reality.
