The tennis movement in the South Zhejiang is developing rapidly.The masses are well-founded,tennis competitions is increasing,and the scale is expanded.However,tennis umpires are generally in a low level and can not meet the needs of the development of the competitions.This paper adopts a literature research method,an expert interview method,field investigation methods,questionnaire survey methods,mathematical statistics methods and other scientific research methods are also adopted to investigate the training status of tennis umpires in the South Zhejiang,and therefore discovers problems in the training and management of tennis umpires in this region.It provides a reference for the training of tennis umpires in South Zhejiang and improves the level of umpire's enforcement so as to promote the development of tennis in South Zhejiang.The following conclusions are drawn from the study:(1)The level of tennis referees in South Zhejiang is not reasonable,there is no international tennis umpire,only two national umpires,and a small number of first-level umpires.The ratio of male and female referees is unbalanced,though umpire's academic structure is reasonable,the occupational structure is simple.On the spot,the umpires have only average level of adjudication and English language ability.It is a young team with great grown potential.(2)The distribution of tennis umpires in the South Zhejiang is uneven.It is difficult for umpires in remote area to obtain the opportunity for adjudication,which is not conducive to the development of tennis.The umpires have insufficient chance of going out to adjudicate,and most referees do not have the experience of international and domestic competitions.It is difficult to form a new virtuous circle with the old belt.(3)The contents of the umpire training in the South Zhejiang are not comprehensive enough,and the assessment of English knowledge,divisional knowledge,and the arrangement of knowledge of the competition is relatively little,which is not conducive to the high-level development needs of umpires.The umpire training methods are diversified,the social training power is insufficient,the teacher training power under the college training mode is insufficient,the training quantities and quality are insufficient,and the university training has not formed full coverage,which is not conducive to the formation of the tennis umpire reserve force system.(4)There is no reasonable management mechanism and evaluationmechanism for the tennis umpires in the South Zhejiang,and the umpires can not be effectively supervised and long-term planned.Based on the conclusions it has come up with the following suggestions:(1)The relevant departments in South Zhejiang should introduce or organize large-scale high-level tennis tournaments,or organize umpires to go out to learn and to observe the high-level tennis umpires' style of determination to train key umpires in South Zhejiang,and increase umpire's enthusiasm for adjudication.Encourage and create opportunities for umpires to develop to be higher level ones.The study of tennis rules and the laws of tennis umpiring should be strengthened,and the assessment of English knowledge,especially oral English,should be strengthened to lay the foundation for the development of umpires.(2)Relevant departments should increase the training of female umpires and balance the proportion of umpires of men and women.At the same time,it will increase the training of remote area umpires and provide more referendum opportunities for remote area umpires so that this umpire can better serve the local community and promote the comprehensive and healthy development of the tennis industry.(3)Change the occupational structure of tennis umpires in South Zhejiang,and vigorously develop free-agent tennis umpires.Increase the training of university student umpires,achieve full coverage of college education,increase the number of umpires,and cultivate the students into the main reserve force for the tennis umpire team.Vigorously promote social training and encourage social forces to participate in training.To focus on the training of excellent umpires,guiding the development of professional umpires,and promoting the development of tennis in South Zhejiang.(4)Each city in South Zhejiang should established a tennis umpire association or umpire committee to formulate rules and regulations that are suitable for the management and development of local tennis umpires.Increase the content of the assessment,register umpires who have already passed the examination,and establish a umpire archive.Each umpire is selected rationally,and the umpires are trained in a unified manner.Scoring rules for tennis umpires should be established,and a scoring system also should be established,and uniform assessments should be performed for the umpires.A talent pool for excellent umpires should be built to train comprehensive umpire talents.
