International Comparative Research On STEM Education

STEM is short for four subjects:Science,Technology,Engineering and Mathematics.STEM education first represents the study and practice of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.The second is the integration of curricula through participation in real world projects;Thirdly,it is the cultivation of the ability and quality of students who need in the future career and lifelong learning.STEM education,as a comprehensive education for cultivating compound innovative talents,has been strongly respected by countries all over the world when it is launched,as China is in a turning point in its strategic development,STEM education is urgently needed to realize the great development and great transformation of our society.This paper introduces the connotation of STEM education through literature method,content analysis method and comparative method,combs STEM education research status both at home and abroad,and analyzes STEM education development path,strategic planning and STEM education support system in the United States,Britain and Australia.Finally,combining with the development history and current situation of STEM education in the United States,Britain and other countries,we can draw lessons from the development of STEM education in our country:promoting the top-level design of STEM education policy;participating in STEM education system project with "universal participation";adjusting the educational layout and integrating formal and informal learning spaces;updating science,technology,engineering,mathematics curricula;increasing students' STEM learning activities;providing STEM learning and teaching resources;promoting professional development of schools and teachers.
