Chemistry is a natural science built on the basis of experiments,so experiment is the basic method and means of studying chemistry.Chemical experiment skills are the foundation and guarantee for successfully completing experimental tasks.This study mainly used the methods of literature review,investigation,statistical analysis and other research methods to investigate and evaluate the chemistry experiment skills of senior high school students.This study made a questionnaire about current situation of training high school chemistry experiment skills to survey students among 5 ordinary high schools in Jiangmen city.The statistical results showed that(1)The chemical experiments in the high and secondary schools surveyed are conducted in good conditions,with a laboratory opening rate of about 86 percent and a teaching materials group opening rate of about 67 percent.(2)Most chemistry teachers attach importance to the development of experimental skills.Sixty-one percent of the teachers can demonstrate the experiment and then group the students,but give them not enough time to practice their skills.(3)Most students pay little attention to experimental skills and rely on experimental operation,with only about 10%of students who are able to perform the experiment independently.According to the investigation and literature analysis,this study constructed a complete evaluation system of chemical experiment skills,and compiled the“test questions of chemical experiment skills of high school students”to carry on an experimental operation examination among a high school students in Jiangmen city.The statistical analysis of the results showed that:(1)The quality index of the test questions is high.The coefficient of half-confidence is0.874;the correlation coefficient of the validity is 0.782;the difficulty coefficient is 0.35 and the difference is 0.42.(2)Descriptive statistics showed that the results of the overall students'assessment of their chemical experimental skills is a normal distribution:with an average score of 75.94,a qualifying rate of 91.09 per cent and an excellent rate of 11.06 per cent.The score rates of intelligence skills,movement skills and experimental habits were 0.795,0.721and 0.885.(3)The cluster analysis found that the seven basic operations of the test skill were divided into two categories,namely,volume determination,shaking,leakage detection and dissolution and most students'skill level is of good proficiency.Transfer,washing and weighing belong to the other category,and most students'skill level is below proficiency.(4)Comparative analysis showed that the experimental skill level of video teaching students is better than that of demonstration teaching,among which the experimental skill is significantly different;the development level of experimental skills of female students is slightly higher than that of male students.Among them,the experimental habits are significantly different.The indexes of the experimental skills of excellent students were significantly better than those of students with learning difficulties.(5)Correlation analysis showed that the level of development of chemistry experimental skills and academic achievement of high school students were 0.01 confidence level,Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.840,Sig.0.000,and there is a significant positive correlation between video lecture type and demonstration lecture type of 0.844 and 0.841 respectively;the correlation coefficient between girls and boys was0.873 and 0.811 respectively;the correlation coefficient between students with good grades and poor grades was 0.652 and 0.544.(6)Regression analysis found that the chemistry experimental skills of high school students have a Singular linearity relationship with their academic performance.The regression equation Y=0.816X+13.714 and R~2=0.706.The experimental skill scores can explain 70.6%of the variation.In order to give fully play the guiding role of high school chemistry teaching materials in the training of experimental skills,this study,combined with the new curriculum“three dimensional teaching goal”,first classifies the content of chemical experiment into four types:validation experiment,operation experiment,inquiry experiment and activity experiment.In order to improve the efficiency of teachers in training students'experimental skills,the four-step teaching method is proposed for the first time based on operational-type experiments for training experimental skills,combining pedagogical and psychological concepts.The author hopes that this article can play a positive role in the evaluation and research of high school chemistry experimental skills,and provide reference for cultivating students'experimental skills and evaluating them effectively.
