After entering the university, freshmen are faced with college life that is completely different from the previous high school life. The way of learning in university requires students' ability of learing independently. For example, students need to hold the progress of their own learning, consciously keep learning in the spare time, and so on.At the same time, the way of life in college is quite different from that in high school.College freshmen will go through more complicated interpersonal relationships, such as dormitory relationship, community relationship and so on.For freshmen, their ability to adapt to the new learning lifestyle is crucial to complete their college studies successfully.According to the existing studies,it can be found that most freshmen are faced with the adaptive problems, including interpersonal relationship, learning, living and so on.This study is mainly aimed to investigate the adaptation level of freshmen in universities. The tools for research and assessment used in this survey are the the freshmen's adaptation scale(FARS),which was revised in 2002 by Wang Caikang. The respondents of the survey and the class group counseling are the freshmen from Hubei University of Technology,Grade 2017.The research is divided into two sub-studies.Study 1:in October 2017,372 freshmen of Hubei University of Technology,Grade 2017 were selected to take part in this experiment, and their adaptation level was assessd by using the "freshman adaptability scale".Finally, the data were analyzed and compared by spss21 in order to figure out the overall adaptation level of freshmen and the different dimensions and demographic variables of adaptation differences in the freshmen's adaptation scale.Study 2:from November to December in 2017,a class group counseling activity with the theme of "improving freshmen's adaptation level" was conducted at Hubei University of Technology. One class was randomly selected from all freshmen classes as the experimental class, which would accept the group counseling intervention.Meanwhile, another class was selected as the control class. The experimental class had accepted 6 times class group counseling activities, and no intervention was made in the control class at the same time. Finally, the pre-test data of the experimental class and the control class, the pre-test and post-test data of the experimental class, the post-test data of the experimental class and the control class, the pre-test and post-test data of the control class, and the pre-test and tracking data of the experimental class were analyzed by using spss21.0 to make clear the effect of class group counseling on freshmen's adaptation leve and it's stability.
