Purpose:This study assesses the interactions between serum calcium level,Aerobic capacity(Ac)level,and cognitive function of preschool children.Method:In this study,346 preschool children aged 3.5-5.5 years were recruited in Yangpu District and Baoshan District of Shanghai.93 of them refused to collect blood samples and excluded 5 missing data.The effective sample size was 248 men with 144 boys and 104 girls.Cognitive function was measured for the effective sample of 248 preschool children in Shanghai aged between 3.5 and 5.5 years,.Serum calcium was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry.Performance on the 20 mSRT was used to estimate Aerobic capacity.Verbal and performance cognitive ability and intelligence quotient were measured by the Chinese Wechsler Young Children Scale of Intelligence(C-WYCSI).General linear model was used to analyze the interaction of serum calcium and Ac level on verbal intelligence quotient,performance intelligence quotient and intelligence quotient cognitive function.Statistical significance was set at P<0.05.Results:After controlling for confounding factors(sex,age,family income,parental education and average weekly physical activity),serum calcium and Aerobic capacity covariance results showed:1.Verbal intelligence quotient(VIQ)and full intelligence quotient(FIQ)found that Ac level have a significant difference on cognition,P<0.05.The interaction of serum calcium concentration and Ac on the VIQ and FIQ,P<0.05.The result of the interaction of VIQ and FIQ is F(1,248)=6.696,P =0.019 and F(3,248)=8.846,P= 0.006.However,the performance intelligence quotient(PIQ)don't find interaction.When the serum calcium concentration was low and the level of Ac was high,FIQ and VIQ scored higher.When serum calcium concentration was high,the results of Ac had little effect on FIQ and VIQ.2.The interaction between serum calcium concentration and Ac was not significant in preschool children of different genders.Conclusion:There was significant interaction between serum calcium concentration and Ac in preschool children.It is suggested that in the range of normal serum calcium concentration,When low serum calcium concentration,Ac results had lower cognitive function(FIQ and VIQ).
