With the rapid development of science and technology,the process of globalization is deepening day by day,the knowledge economy is beginning to reveal,the information age has quietly come to us.Under such a big background,the overall quality of human beings,especially their ability to solve problems creatively,becomes the decisive factor in talent selection.Therefore,the new curriculum reform of our country vigorously promotes quality education,to improve the quality of people as the core goal of education reform,and under the guidance of this goal actively explore the improvement of the overall quality of education and teaching strategy.As a mother tongue discipline,Chinese plays an inexorable role in improving the overall literacy of students,especially in the field of humanistic literacy,and the comprehensive nature of Chinese subjects makes Chinese become the first test field of new curriculum reform.In recent years,on how to improve the overall literacy of students better in the Chinese subject,many educational scholars have carried out in-depth exploration,put forward the situation teaching,the theme teaching,the special teaching language teaching new model,and has achieved remarkable results.From these new attempts to reform the Chinese curriculum,we can see that the correction of the Chinese language curriculum is developing in a holistic,comprehensive and life-oriented direction.Inspired by the theories of whole-person education,social construct view,multiple intelligence and so on,the American scholar Ken Goodman took the lead in the new attempt of language teaching in the field of reading,put forward the whole language as a whole and integrated language teaching idea,thus laying a new trend of language education as a whole and comprehensive development.With the development of the whole language movement,this theory of language education has been perfected,further affecting the American education in the second half of the 20 th century.This paper discusses the whole language theory,and takes the whole language idea and practice as the research center,from the whole language research background and the present situation,the concept connotation,the basic idea,the implementation strategy,the value and the limitation five aspects carried on the whole language theory detailed introduction.First,the research background and status of the whole language.This paper explains the necessity and importance of the whole language theory from two aspects: the dilemma of traditional language teaching and the new exploration of Chinese teaching.Then,from the domestic and foreign aspects of the development of the whole language to the development of the overall understanding of the development of the context.Secondly,the thesis defines the basic concept of the whole language and applies the method of linking theory with practice.First,it introduces the concept,characteristics and theoretical basis of the whole languageThe fourth part explains the value and implementation limits of the whole language theory.Any theory has its boundaries,and so does the whole language.A pertinent evaluation of the whole language theory is of great value and significance to the better application of the whole language theory in practice.
