As a comprehensive game,dramatic play plays an active role in the development of children's ability of languages,creativity the theory of mind and so on.Previous studies mostly focused on the relationship between dramatic play and children's development,but researches concerning the quality of dramatic play are relatively few.To fill the gap,the writer conducted observation and measurements on the dramatic play quality of level-? and level-? kindergartens in H city.36 classes were selected from each level of kindergartens for a better understanding of the quality,the similarities and differences as well as the reasons behind the dramatic play between different levels of kindergartens.To sum up,the paper aims at providing reference suggestions for the improvement of kindergarten dramatic play.Based on measuring and observing methods,the writer applied the fifth sub-scale of Chinese Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale(trial version)"character\dramatic play" of the sub-scale—"play and Activity" and analyzed collected data from the dimensions of "play Materials and Space","Opportunity and Time" along with " Design and Guidance".The following conclusions can be drawn from the research:The overall quality of the kindergarten drama play at both levels can only meet the minimum standard and the average score of level ? kindergrtens is significantly higher than that of level ? kindergartens.The advantages of the level ?kindergartens include:sufficient play materials and space;arrange materials based on dramatic theme;combine dramatic theme with recent courses.While common problems of the two levels of kindergartens' dramatic play include:improper distribution of play materials;less contextual creation based on play themes;lack of flexibility in game time;less guidance and lack of enlightenment by teachers after the performances.Based on the above findings,this study proposes the following suggestions for the improvement of the quality of kindergarten dramatic play:First,Changing the concept of teachers and creating a game environment based on dramatic themes and children's interests.Second,Paying more attention to teachers' guidance and adopting different guiding strategies according to game stage;accumulating experience in dramatic practices and improving teachers' level of questioning;improving cooperation among teachers so they can put more focus on children's dramatic play;Third,Ensuring a balanced curriculum structure so that children get more time for their dramatic play.
