| The current study aimed to explore the influence of external factors(parenting styles)and internal factors(neuroticism,meta-worry)on the test anxiety to provide suggestions for test anxiety counseling and remediation. There were 743 high school students engaging in the study.Four questionnaires were adopted including Test anxiety scale(TAS)、NEO Five Factor inventory-neuroticism subscale,meta-worry questionnaire and Short-form Egna Minnen Betraffende Upfostran(s-EMBU).The results of our study were as follows:(1)The effects of gender and grade weren’t significant in scores of test anxiety, neuroticism and meta-worry for participants with varied test anxiety level.Boys and girls experienced different parenting styles. That was to say, boys reported more overprotection and rejection from parents while girls reported more parental emotion.(2)Scores in parents’ rejection and test anxiety correlated positively for participants with severer test anxiety. Moreover, pairwise correlations between scores of neuroticisms and that of meta-worry and test anxiety were also significant.(3)Meta-worry both mediated the effect of neuroticisms on the test anxiety for participants with varied test anxiety level.(4)For severer test anxiety participants,meta-worry also fully mediated the effect of maternal rejection on test anxiety.Rather than playing a modulating role,Neuroticisms influenced the test anxiety through meta-worry.It acted separately from parenting styles. |
