A Study On The Existing Problems And Countermeasures In The Management Of Independent Colleges In China

In 1999,with the establishment of the City College of Zhejiang University,the independent colleges went up on the stage of higher education in China,and spread rapidly from Zhejiang to the whole country.Independent colleges promoted the sustained and rapid economic development of our country.Independent colleges are different from public colleges,which can not get too much support from national policies.However,the management system of independent colleges is a combination of public universities and enterprises,which become an especially advantage.Also there exists many management problems need to be solved.In the fierce competition,those problems will affect the development of independent colleges and the overall competitiveness.Based on the relevant theories,this paper analyzes the problems of independent colleges management from the aspects of the national policies,such as unclear policies and lack of support,unscrupulous decision-making institutions,lack of effective supervision mechanism,inadequate internal management structures,unstable staff and so on.The author believes,there are four points will remain invincible in the competition of independent colleges,the first is to amend the national policy.The second is to unify the attitude of investor and independent colleges.The third is to improve the board of directors and related supervisory bodies as well as strengthen the democracy.The fourth is to establish a better management model,which survive and adapt to the society.It can start from the aspects of the national policies,operating mechanism and the management system of the independent colleges.The purpose of this paper is to explore various ways to solve the existing problems of independent colleges and provide some countermeasures for independent colleges to improve the quality and level of management.
