In recent years, the prevalence of cancer has increased year by year.Long course of disease, high medical costs, the pain of the treatment process and other factors cause cancer patients under tremendous physical and psychological pressure.Unfortunately, medical staff are often busy with their work, and they tend to focus more on the patient's illness, with less concern about the patient's fear of death. Therefore, the study of cancer patients fear of death has the urgency and practical significance.Based on the theory of existentialism and Erickson's theory of psychosocial development, this article studies the effectiveness of the life review intervention in alleviating the fear of death in cancer patients. In this study,we think that physiological loss, low self-identity and uncertainty about the future lead to the loss of life meaning of cancer patients. We hope that life review intervention may be used to reshape the life meaning of cancer patients and then alleviate the fear of death in cancer patients.Six cancer patients were selected as study subjects. The study reviewed the life experiences of clients from three stages of minor period(such topics as study, family and interpersonal relationship),adult period(work, marriage and children),cancer period(illness, family and worries),to help them regain self?awareness, enhance self-identity,and acquire life meaning.Pre-intervention and post-test interventions were performed on 6 cancer patients using the Death Tread Scale.Data analysis showed that there was a significant decrease in the score of death fear scale for cancer patients after social work intervention. It describes the effectiveness of the life review method in alleviating the fear of death in cancer patients.
