With China's entery into the phase of massification of higher education,the number of college students continue to increase and student groups shows a trend of diversification so that the quality assurance of higher education becomes one of the hot issue in the higher education research feild.Students are the ultimate beneficiaries of higher education,therefore the quality of higher education is mainly embodided in the aspect of college students.Most of scholars agree that time investment is an essential part of the students engagement.So it is an indispensable ability for contemporary college students to enhance their time management.Under the background of the quality assurance in higher education and based on the situation where college studengts' tome management is not optimistic at present,this study,take H university's undergraduates for example,explore and analyze the current situation of undergraduates' time management in Huniversity from the three dimensions of gender,grade,and discipline so as to put up with some empirical evidence and suggestions foe the enhancement of the undergraduates' time management ability and students' learning and development.This paper based on the “Students Survey of Learning and Development”(SSLD)questionnaire-independently developed by H university undergraduate,it adopts the method of empirical study to analyze and interpret the resule of data processing by collecting data and literature reading.In the survey combined with this research subject,at last 11820 valid questionnaires has been collected.This paper,through the use of the IBM SPSS statistics21.0 analysis tools adopts statiscal methods(e.g.descriptive analysis,single factor variance analysis and cluster analysis)to process the data.It is found out that:(1)The overall situation of H university undergraduates' time management is optimistic through the data analysis,mainly manifesting that most of the students are given priority to academic engagement.However,from the perspective of education value,the situation is not optimistic,because in the four student types of time management students with low sense of time value accounts for a quarter of the total.(2)From the dimension of gender,the time management behavior of H university undergraduates to some extent shows convergence phenomenon,mainly showing that there is no significant difference on students' learning activities.(3)From the dimension of grade,time management behavior of undergraduates have significant differences.That is,the time of students learning in class has been reduced with the increase of grade and the time od stidents learning out of class has been increasedwith the increase of grade.(4)From the dimension of discipline,time management behavior of undergraduates have significant differences.Students majoring in science,engineering,medicine spend more time in learning activities,while students majoring in humanities and social sciences,spend the least amount of time in learning activities and spend more time in leisure time activities and additional activities than other disciplines.This study concludes that t the diversity of undergraduates time management behavior is a kind of groups phenomenon,and it suggests that students can independently plan their college life,with the reasonable phenomenon of individual differences.However,the problems behind the phenomenon reflected by the group is worth thinking.The more time of students learning regulated by school,the less time foe students to independently arrange themselves.Meanwhile,whatever there is the “burnout phenomenon” among junior students,or students majoring in humanities have low learning engagement,all these show that the intensity of students' learning motivation has a direct sffect on their learning engagement.The reasons could ba found that,the external environment is one of the important factors that lead to these problems sxcept the internal cause.Hereby,in order to promote students' learning and development better,this paper puts up with some suggestions from three aspects: firstly,school should continue to strengthen policy and environment construction;secondly,teachers need to improve their teaching methods;thirdly,students are supposed to correct their time values and learning values.Of course,it does not comes into be all at once to improve this situation and achieve a higher target.Actually it is a systematic and complex process and needs joint efforts among the schools,teachers and students.
