A Research On The Key Learning Competences Of Students In Higher Education

In twenty-first Century,faced with the dramatic transformations in knowledge society,nobody can feel easy in dealing with unknown change.The key competences that can be applied across different job and life contexts have become the basic requirements for adults.The learning competence is the essence and core of all the key competences,and can be a breakthrough for improving the college students' competences.However,the existing concepts such as the power of learning,self-regulation or leraning to learn all have rich connotations.In which,there are numerous specific abilities being suggested.Neither teachers nor students in higher education can find a focus.Chineses higher education system is turning into universal access which bases itself upon satisfying the individual needs of all students.How to identify individual needs is being a problem.In order to concentrate on key competences,building consensus is the inevitable way.Knowledges,skills and emotions are the most common elements of competences.This study developed a learning competences scale for college students.1298 undergraduates and vocational college students are sampled.This study has constructed a new three-level college students key learning competences framework.Relationship construction between new and old learning content,resource management,self motivation are on the third level.The strategies using,learning value understanding,self adjustment and lernring effect reflection are on the middle level.Learning status monitoring,information& resources acquisition,information value identification,interaction channel knowing,academic relationships maintaining,resource-using effect reflection,learning enjoying,curiosity and active learning are on the first level.These 16 key learning competences could play a decisive role in achieving personal value for students,and should become a main concern for both students and teachers in higher education.
