A Study On The Factors And Effects Of CBA Foreign Players’ Signing And Leaving

Based on the theories of cultural conflict and stakeholder,CBA foreign players from2011-2016 are analysed by the methods of Literature,Interview and Cases Analysis.The motivations for foreign players’ coming and reasons for their leaving are listed.The results show as follows:(1)Players’ cutting ratio is going down while the extension ratio rises up.The rules on foreign players are switching from season to season which is not good for teams’ long-time plan.(2)The motivations for foreign players’ coming to China concludes league surroundings and personal factors.League surroundings vary in stability and fluctuation depending on where the foreign player was born.By means of career periods and personal value expectation,the personal factors consist of high-paid salary,skills modifying,career extension,social and individual values,new playing experiences and financial support.(3)Factors for foreign players’ leaving consist of injuries,poor skills,not fit,characters,sportsmanship,changing surroundings,cultural conflicts,roster changing,etc.Players’ leaving might be caused by one or mixed factors above.(4)Foreign players’ coming make the local players more competitive with better on court abilities,big heart and a better team.CBA is becoming a hot topic and the brand is shining.On the other hand,local players have to make room for foreign players which block their way to grow up as a key player.Fighting for high-paid players brings the clubs new financial burdens which highly increase the signing risk.On the contrary,teams’ ranking would drop down quickly.If deputes occur between the club and foreign players,bad reputations would lean on the side of clubs which is not good for them to sign other foreign players afterwards.Eventually,CBA brand image and its marketing exploit might be hurt.(5)As for the suggestions,clubs shall be more clever and reasonable on whom they are focusing and going to sign.Frequent communications are needed to build up the feelings of home.Coaches shall pay more attentions to local players and have them control the game rather than the foreign players.The administrators of CBA shall set up effective managing systems and policies regarding to foreign players as soon as possible.
