Study On The Relationship Between WeChat Use And Familial Intimacy Of College Students

WeChat is getting involved in people's daily lives in a tidal wave.It is integrating into every part of life and is reshaping people's communication patterns and networks.With the increasing number of middle-aged and elderly WeChat users,family interaction and communication are beginning to enter the era of social media.The use of WeChat has an increasing influence on the parent-child relationship.The intervention of WeChat has undoubtedly implanted family communication into a new chapter and affected the parent-child communication.The purpose of this paper is to use quantitative research method to explore the social media use(in this study set up for measuring dimension intensity,functions and motivation of three dimensions)for separating over a long distance between family members.At the same time,it discusses the correlation between the demographic characteristics and the adjustment variables to the parents' parent-child intimacy variables(divided into his father and mother two subscales measure respectively).Research through sampling investigation in the form of questionnaire,correlation analysis and linear regression analysis to the data,main research conclusions are as follows: first,demographic characteristics and regulation variables influence on parent-child intimacy very weak,only grade variable with significant positive correlation between parent-child intimacy;Secondly,WeChat use variables internally,the motivation dimension had a significant effect on the functional dimension;Finally,WeChat use intensity,WeChat use function and WeChat use motivation have significant influences on the parent-child intimacy between college students and their parents.Study conclusion shows that use self-disclosure and mutual identity dimensions of the motivations is the most significant correlation between parent-child intimacy with college students and parents,this is consistent with the idea that "the degree of disclosure affects the relationship" in the theory of social penetration theory.And according to the survey data in this study,the perceived intimacy between the college students and their mothers was significantly higher than that of their fathers.The author thinks that the research conclusion is consistent with the actual situation of the family in China,father's involvement in family life is low,but harmonious family relationships of significant benefit to the physical and mental health of teenagers,the author holds that for the college students' psychological and physiological healthy growth.,family members should try to avoid the "absence" of family ties.And parents should grasp the scale of communication when dealing with children,transforming the obligatory blood dependence between relatives into comfortable interdependence,avoid adolescent rebellion in adolescence and get involved in bad habits.However,In this study,the effects of setting adjustment variables on WeChat intensity and parent-child intimacy were not significant.The reasons for this result may be due to insufficient sample sizes and number of samples of this study configuration is not equal,hoping to improve the further study in the future.And it will combine with the research results of family therapy and family counseling,to promote the development of the relationship between teenagers and their families.
