Research On The Influence Of Wechat Use On Parent-Child Relationship In College Students' Families

McLuhan believes that the advent of new media technologies will create new cultures,generate new ways of social interaction and promote social change.As a new media technology,WeChat has more than one billion users since its introduction in 2011,making it a "phenomenal" mobile social software in the new media era.Although the post-80 s and post-90 s are still the main force of WeChat users,thanks to their simplicity and ease of learning,the age range of WeChat users has gradually expanded,and more and more middle-aged people aged 45 to 55 have been WeChat users.WeChat provides convenience for parent-child communication between two generations living in different places in the family,and becomes the first choice for college students to communicate with their parents.WeChat not only maintains the parent-child communication among college students,but also changes the parent-child relationship and presents new characteristics.This paper takes the parent-child relationship of college students' families as the research object,take in-depth interviews as the main study way.And the research data is WeChat communication between parents and children in college students' families.By analyzing the use of WeChat function,such as communication between times,chat mode,WeChat expression bag usage,WeChat Lucky Money usage,the circle of friends communication situation,this paper analyzes that WeChat communication function is remodeling the parent-child communication situation for college students.This paper discusses the influence of new communication situation on college students' family parent-child relationship by the theory of media situation of Joshua Merowitz that is from new media to new situation,from new situation to new behavior,and from new behavior to new relations.In addition to the introduction,the text includes four parts.The text first sorts out Merowitz's theory of media situation,which lays a theoretical foundation for this study.Secondly,according to the data of in-depth interview,the author extracted the characteristics of the use of WeChat in two generations of college students' families.According to the use of WeChat communication function between parents and children,the author discussed the difference of the use of WeChat in parents and WeChat in children.Parental WeChat is characterized by WeChat instant messaging-based communication,occasional use of emoticons,low security in the circle of friends,and WeChat Lucky Money bearing different meanings.WeChat of children is characterized by WeChat messages-oriented communication,simple emoticons with simple meanings,WeChat circle of friends visible in part,and WeChat Lucky Money integrated with tools and emotions.According to the characteristics of different communication functions of WeChat and Media situation theory,the author analyze the formation of the new WeChat communication scenes by different WeChat communication functions.Through the establishment of WeChat virtual scene,the intimacy between parents and children of college students is enhanced.The central behavior of the offspring's circle of friends alleviates the parent-child conflict;The equality consciousness contained in WeChat Lucky Money promotes the equal status between parents and children.In the process of WeChat learning,the identity transformation of teaching and learning enhances the family status of the children.As a carrier of the new media technology,WeChat affects all aspects of life,the parentchild relationship is only a small portion of this transformation.By studies WeChat use of two generations of college students and their parents,this paper reveals that the transformation of the media technology has an impact on the reconstruction of social relations.on the one hand,the study result can encourage people to correctly treat the medium technology updates,to distinguish the pros and cons in media changing,and to use the media technology rationally,on the other hand,hoping that the study result can provide an introspective perspective to college students and their parents that are in the confused issue of parent-child relationship and promote the harmonious development of parent-child relationship.
