Mathematics is a science with strong practicality.Its greatest charm lies in that it comes from life,serves life,and lives above life.Based on the special characteristics of knowledge and experience,and age characteristics of the junior students in primary school,the use of life-oriented teaching methods is conducive to arouse students' existing life experience,mobilize the students' activeness,and make them feel that math is on their side and that learning mathematics is very useful.The ethnic elementary schools in Saihan District of Hohhot City is a complete primary school with Mongolian and Chinese language teaching.It consists of 45 classes,including 2 classes in pure Mongolian,6 classes in Mongolian and 37 classes in Chinese.As a junior mathematics teacher,according to many years of teaching practice,it was found that it is necessary to adopt life-oriented teaching in the elementary school mathematics teaching process.However,in the actual teaching,the use of life-oriented teaching also has certain deficiencies.In response to these deficiencies,corresponding improvement strategies are proposed.To further understand the application of life-oriented teaching in the teaching of mathematics in the primary school,this article takes some study methods including literature research method,action research method,case analysis method,questionnaire survey method and interview method,and analyzes the questionnaires and interviews of mathematics teachers in Grade 1 and 3 of ethnic elementary schools in Saihan District,Hohhot City.With the use of life-oriented teaching as a starting point for research,some of the puzzles and problems in their use is find out and the contents of suitable for life-oriented teaching in the mathematics textbooks for lower grade primary school pupils are extracted:(1)The teaching content does not conform to the reality of life;(2)The materialization of life is too simple;(3)The theme of life is inappropriate;(4)The teaching situation is created in a formal way;Then the corresponding teaching strategies were proposed :(1)Instruct students to pay attention to the phenomenon of life;(2)Excavate the contents of daily life in the teaching materials and enrich the elements of life;(3)Select appropriate subjects for daily life;(4)Combine the teaching of change teaching and games,and skillfully use the situation of life;And corresponding cases were given according to the strategies.Taking "Digital Numbering" and "Panning and Rotation" as examples,the teaching design and teaching practice were carried out and good teaching effects were achieved.
