In order to meet the coming of "the era of AI",the new technology drives the development and transformation of the economic and social industry,and the urgent demand for the innovation of highly-skilled talents,in which the traditional education is facing the challenge of new transformation.In the era of rapid spread of informational technology,STEM education takes interdisciplinary and inquiry-based learning as a scenario to cultivate students’ comprehensive innovation and independent thinking,which has become the most concerned educational strategy in the twenty-first Century’ world.Nowadays,STEM education is widely carried out in the courses of information technology in primary and secondary schools,such as programming,and so on.At the top level,it is supported by the promotion of the national policy,and in the research level,STEM research has formed a theoretical base,and in the social level,science and technology institutions are also actively participating in the promotion,which forms the trend of the continuous growth of STEM education.In order to establish STEM evaluation case and effectiveness analysis for establishing STEM learning assessment reference,this study evaluated STEM course from the perspective of students,and explored the relationship between the two initial cognitive abilities and STEM academic performance,and found the moderating variables.This research adopts the method of literature analysis,questionnaire survey and classroom observation to carry out an empirical study on the preparatory grade students in a junior high school in Shanghai.The research process is: 1)in the early stage,do the literature analysis and theoretical research in order to establish research ideas and design.2)in the mid term,set up STEM courses,observe student performance and conduct tests,distribute questionnaires,collect data.3)in the later period,analyze data and write papers.It is found that students’ logical reasoning ability is significantly positively related to their STEM programming performance.The stronger students’ logical reasoning ability is,the better their performance in programming is,and is mediated by their interest in learning.Another finding is that there was significantly positive correlation between spatial ability and operating performance,and was significantly positive correlation between spatial ability and programming performance,and students’ spatial ability is stronger,the operating performance and programming performance are more excellent,and spatial ability on operating performance is mediated by their learning attitude.In addition,in this STEM course,there is no difference in logical reasoning and spatial ability in character,and the cognitive ability of male and female students is equal.The ability of logic reasoning has great influence on the internalization of students’ programming knowledge,but it has little influence on the actual operation of programming,where students are in the understanding of programming or in the memory of programming worth paying attention.In summary,this study established a case study and the results of STEM assessment,and the establishment of evaluation for the STEM study provides an example;on the other hand,the study of the relationship between the students’ starting ability and the STEM academic performance has provided the experience of improving the learning effect of STEM.
