Whether it is technology or the way of thinking,the development of the Internet in China can be described as more and more mature.The development of the Internet has brought more job opportunities and professional groups,such as programmers.The daily work and life of the programmer are inseparable from the Internet.There are unique experiences and understandings of the features of the Internet and the use of the Internet for learning.Programmers’ online self-directed learning studies combine the most commonly used learning methods in adult learning—self-directed learning and the Internet,which help enrich the research topics of adult learning and education.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction.It states the reason for the development of this study and the related era and academic background.It also clarifies the main research content of this paper,and the purpose and significance of the study.The second chapter is the literature review and research design.It defines the core concepts of this thesis and focuses on domestic and foreign literature reviews on the topics of online self-directed learning model,programmer,and self-directed learning.This study mainly used questionnaire surveys and interviews on the collection of first-hand data.The third chapter analyzes the status of online self-directed learning of programmers groups based on questionnaire survey data and interview texts.The fourth chapter is based on the investigation and interviews to discuss the personality characteristics and learning process of online self-directed learning by programmers.The promotion strategy.The fifth chapter is the research conclusion and reflection.The main conclusions of this study are:One is that Song and Janette’s online self-directed learning model has certain applicability to the programmer community.From the survey data and in-depth interviews,in addition to the unobviousness of learning monitoring in the network environment,the use of learning resources,the use of learning strategies,learning motivation,learning plans,and learning assessments are all very relevant to the programmer community.The second is that with the continuous development and renewal of the Internet,many learning processes in the technology are achievable,even if the learning and monitoring process is also in the technical direction.As adult learners,we need to clearly understand that our own learning cannot be completely accomplished by tools,but rather we need our own experience and thinking.Third,fragmentation time poses many challenges for online self-directed learning,especially in terms of learning resources,monitoring,and planning.
