Chemistry extracurricular activities are characterized by autonomy,flexibility,and practicality,which play an important role in cultivation of students' interest of learning,consolidation of knowledge and development of personality,it is a fundamental part of chemistry teaching.Wechat has become a widely-used instant messaging software with many powerful functions.It has the ability to support the teaching system.Therefore,“Wechat” and chemistry in junior high school are being explored to solve the problem of limited secondary school chemistry extracurricular activities.The combination of “Wechat” and chemistry extracurricular activities in junior high school has certain practical significance.This study uses "WeChat" as a new platform to design extracurricular activities of junior high school.The main contents include the background,aims and the significance of the study,which is based on the constructivist learning theory and Bruner's theory of cognitive structure learning as theoretical guidance.Using questionnaires to design and investigate teachers and students' interests and the chemistry extracurricular activities in their school.The survey results show that both teachers and students are positive about performing extracurricular chemistry activities based on the “WeChat”platform.91% of teachers believe that it is helpful to develop the students' overall development;81% of students believe that they have a certain help in chemistry learning.The research contents of this article include:(1)Collating the extracurricular activities of(Science Press and Guangdong Education Press edition)junior middle school chemistry textbook content;(2)Designing the extracurricular activities of junior middle schoolchemistry based on the WeChat platform.The design content includes interesting experiments,cutting-edge information,review materials and quizzes related to interesting activities;(3)Implement the design of extracurricular activities based on the “WeChat” platform for junior high school chemistry.Collect and analyze the results.The result shows that students' participation in extracurricular activities is on the rise,which is related to the difficulty of the interest experiments.Meanwhile,students' interest in extracurricular activities,their ability of analysis and problems solving skills have been gradually strengthened.In the teaching process,extracurricular activities reflect the auxiliary functions of classroom teaching,which favors classroom interaction and improve teaching efficiency.Finally,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Using “WeChat”platform as new ways of extracurricular activities in junior high school chemistry can satisfy the requirement of students;(2)Organizing the content of extracurricular activities is helpful for teachers' content selection and design of extracurricular activities in chemistry for junior middle school;(3)Using “WeChat” platform to develop extracurricular activities conform the ninth-grade students' learning habits,which can change the situation that extra-curricular activities are difficult to develop due to excessive educational assignment;(4)The junior high school extracurricular activities based on “WeChat" have enhanced students' interest in learning,abilities and educational efficiency in classroom,in addition,it have facilitated the cultivating students' chemical quality;(5)The combination of “WeChat”public platform and “WeChat” group is a new way to carry out chemistry extracurricular activities in junior high school.This study can server as a reference for extracurricular activities in junior high school chemistry further.
