higher education in the world.The University of Melbourne is one of the members of the Australian Union of eight Schools.After its entry into 21 th century,with carried out some reform practice under the guidance of the development strategy of "raising prestige" series of schools,it not only became the leading school of Australia’s eight schools union,but also the status of the international community has also been promoted by leaps and bounds.This study takes the driving force of world-class universities formed under the influence of internal and external environment of Melbourne University around the 21 st century as the starting point.Based on the objective orientation and core initiatives of the school building to understand its practical operation,and the achievements in the world-class universities construction process are followed by an analysis of their experiences,problems,and future development trends.Finally,some thoughts and suggestions are put forward for the Melbourne lays the foundation for its follow-up development through the education philosophy and the collected resources after a century-long development.However,the University of Melbourne seeking to
