Social Working Research On Hospitalized Adolescent With Mental Illness

With the attention to mental illness now,the group of adolescents with mental illness is getting more and more attention,and the rehabilitation of this group has become an urgent problem for relevant professionals.With the transformation of modern medical mode,the treatment of mental illness from the past focused on the disease itself changes to the mode of patient-centered,meanwhile,the model of treatment from the past simply focused on the biological factors of the treatment changes to the Bio-psycho-social medical model.Now,in some countries in Europe and America,medical social worker has been an indispensable role in the rehabilitation of mental illness,playing a role in assisting patients to achieve social psychological rehabilitation.But in the domestic,there are few of institutions support professional medical social service,most of the relevant theoretical studies are still in the exploratory stage.In order to explore the medical social work serving mode of hospitalized adolescents with mental illness,taking the Mental Healthy Center of Wuhan as the research place.This paper analyzes their actual needs by means of interviews and observation.It was found that some of their social support systems were not functioning,such as lack of communication among the patients,tedious and lonely lives,and frequent friction with carers and so on.These questions refer collectively to the social support networks of the patients.Although many of the existing theoretical research and practical service models refer to social support,they do not address the special group of hospitalized adolescent with mental illness.Adolescence is the stage in which individuals interact most with their peers,and then the signs of mental illness cover up the characteristics of their adolescence.So the research will start from the social support model and aim at improving the life of patients.Social worker will lead seven adolescents with mental illness in convalescence to seven times of group activities,in the name of "Wind and Rain,Rainbow's companion",the group used the means of game,sharing and drama therapy to improve the team members ' self-confidence,social intercourse ability,reducing their hospital stress,anxiety and other negative emotions.Through the analysis of the whole recording of the activity process,the perceived social support scale(PSSS)and the client/consumer satisfaction Questionnaire(CSQ-8)after the group work,evaluating the effect of social work intervention on the social support network of hospitalized adolescent with mental illness,enriching the social support service model ultimately.The existing service mode of medical social work is basic and unitary,the development is slow in the whole.In order to perfect the social service mode of mental rehabilitation,the research focuses on the optimization of the society support network of hospitalized adolescent with mental illness with the approach of observation and interview,and finally getting the conclusion that social support of hospitalized adolescents with mental illness can be enhanced through the development of social work service with the view of social support,trying to add supplement of the social work service model related to social support network services and hospitalized adolescent with mental illness.
