The change of people's value in the late 20th century triggered the reform in the sport industry.Intercollegiate sport is a leading part within the industry, sport teams and athletes as the key factor of elite athletics have raised much of the public attention.Since 1987,China built its first college-athletes'team.Until 2016,there are more than two hundred colleges, including 22 majors which accept student athletes. These athletes are trained to compete for the college and contribute to the development of elite athletics within college level. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Education and universities developed a series of policies.Even though there is a great amount of study focus on the development of intercollegiate sport, there is still a lack of research on how to motivate athletes. As a result, there is a great need to understand whether athletes are satisfied with the team and athletic department. In order to understand the factors influencing athletes'satisfaction, this thesis apply Athletes'Satisfaction Questionnaire?ASQ?designed by Remier and Chelladurai?1997?to measure the satisfactory status of intercollegiate athletes in Sichuan province. This research also employs Maslow's hierarchy theory to evaluate the influence of different factors. The result of this research indicates the needs hierarchy of intercollegiate athletes which sheds light on constructive suggestions for the motivation system for college sports organizations in order to contribute to the development of intercollegiate sport teams.
