Chinese traditional culture is brilliant and splendid.And it`s the deposit of Chinese national spirit that should be highly valued.In recent years,the Ministry of Education,the State General Administration of Sports and governments at different levels have issued a series documents to vigorously promote the activities of martial art,Tai Chi in campus.Schools respond the call of country actively in carrying out such activities.As a traditional Chinese nation martial art element,Tai Chi has attracted much attention of vast majority of people for its unique culture connotation and excellent value in keeping fit.An in-depth survey was done over the status quo of Tai Chi exercise in 13 colleges and universities in Baoding,Hebei province.According to the survey,problems and difficulties in carrying out of Tai Chi exercise have been found and explores in all aspects,and proposals for improving the development of Tai Chi exercise in these colleges are put forward,so as to achieve the purpose of further promoting Tai Chi exercise in such colleges.The survey results show that although colleges and universities in Baoding have introduced Tai Chi into physical education courses in different effect,it has not won enough popularity and the approach in carrying out such courses is relatively simple.There is a big gap between actual effect and the requirement of society.There is no Tai Chi related content in some compulsory sport courses in parts of colleges and universities.There is a lack of the development of Tai Chi exercise.General practice of Tai Chi was carried out in compulsory sports courses in some colleges and universities.As one of many sports to choose,the number of learners is small and the participation rate of students is relatively low.Tai Chi is put as a special content of martial art.There are only a few schools setting up Tai Chi as a special course that let students have a preliminary understanding and practical feelings of the sport of Tai Chi.In schools where Tai Chi is practiced,the teaching content is relatively single.In the teaching process,the exercise is mainly based on individual routines,and there is a lack of collective Tai Chi choreography performances and the creation of Tai Chi routines.The theory lesson class hours are fewer than enough for learners to gain its theoretical knowledge and the inheritance of Tai Chi culture and its ideological and moral implications.There are teachers of non-martial arts specialty undertaking the teaching of Tai Chi.Teachers vary in their personal skills and teaching ability.They encounter many problems and difficulties in the teaching process,which directly affects the teaching quality.The main way for students to understand Tai Chi is through the video programs and Internet.What can be learned in the classroom is only the basic theoretical knowledge of Tai Chi.The origin,history,evolution process,function,value of Tai Chi and the excellence of Tai Chi culture,the understanding of traditional cultural thoughts and other aspects are not understood fully and precisely.In the process of learning Tai Chi,students just pay attention to the imitation of Tai Chi movements,without the understanding of their meaning,and cannot incorporate the spirit of Tai Chi into the movements.Post-class practice is not ideal,as students have poor incentive for self-exercise,lack of interest in practice.They also lack supervision and guidance from teachers,so the approach of learning is monotonous,and activities are not flexible enough.Study shows that the extension of Tai Chi culture should be strengthened.When Tai Chi theoretical classes is properly added,attention should be paid to the teaching of Tai Chi ideology.At the same time,we should actively organize discussions and try to use various media to carry out education and teaching work.Expanding Tai Chi's promotion roads,using social resources,inviting martial artists,performing martial art performances,and preaching the traditional martial art culture should also be done to stimulate students' interest in learning and establishing new models for learning.We should constantly enrich the course content and take it as the basic learning content of the compulsory course in physical education,so as to improve students' basic cognition of Tai Chi comprehensively.Tai Chi special courses should be set up to enrich the teaching content.There should be an extension of Tai Chi Swords,Tai Chi Fan,and Tai Chi Pusher in teaching.Based on the students' mastery of Tai Chi,students should be encouraged to create their own Tai Chi routines,increase the performance of collective Tai Chi,and use beautiful melody music to cultivate students' innovative spirit,collective concepts,and improve students' aesthetic ability.There is also the need to increase the training of teachers and ensure the quality of teaching.We should give play to the backbone role of martial art teachers and carry out various forms of study to improve the theoretical knowledge,personal skills,and teaching level of Tai Chi in non-martial arts professional sports teachers.Developed a variety of forms of after-school learning.Teachers participate in guidance and supervision personally.And actively to encourage students to join organizations such as after-school tutoring groups and sports clubs.There is the need to develop a systematic after-school learning plan to stipulate the time,frequency,and incentives for participating in the study.There is also the need to increase the platform for Tai Chi games and exchanges.With the continued popularity of Tai Chi,the school should actively develop various forms of Tai Chi competitions to create a platform for students to display themselves well.There is also the need to promote the martial art rank system in China and set goals for improving the levels of the students' martial arts.
