In the 1940 s,Mr.Ye Shengtao put forward the idea of "reading the whole book".Today,"reading the whole book" had been written into the "Chinese Curriculum Standard(experiment draft)" and had been paid more and more attention by people,However,the research on the specific discussion about the current situation of reading the whole book by the eighth graders and the differences in the reading of middle school students in urban and rural secondary schools were lack of special elaboration.In view of this,the current situation of reading the whole book by the eighth grades students in urban and rural middle was this article object,and the existing problems in reading reading was research emphasis,from the following five aspects:First of all,the first part of this paper introduced the research background,the purpose and significance of the research,and summarized the current research in this field and defined the concepts of "reading","reading the entire book" and " urban and rural secondary schools ".Secondly,the second part discussed the theoretical basis of "reading the whole book" from the four aspects of philosophy,semantics,the core literacy of student development and new curriculum concepts.Thirdly,the design and investigation process process of the survey tools used in this research was mainly introduced and the survey result were also statistically analyzed.Fourth,a comprehensive analysis of the eighth grade urban and rural secondary schools in the "whole book reading" in the common ground and differences.Fourthly,it analyzed the common points and differences in the current reading of the whole book in the current urban and rural middle school eighth grade students.Finally,put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the eighth grade students in urban and rural secondary schools to carry out the "whole book reading" better.And,in order to promote the ability of reading the whole book by eighth grade students in urban and rural secondary school,put forward corresponding solutions from the government,schools,teachers,students.
