The Influence Of School Environment On Physical Activities Of Children And Adolescents

The overweight and obesity rates of children and adolescents in China have continued to grow,Moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA)especially the School Moderate-to-Vigorous Physical Activity(S-MVPA)play an important role in improving health of children and adolescents.Therefore,this study aims to know the situation of school environment and physical activity,explore the relationship between them and analyze the school environmental factors that influence the physical activities of children and adolescents.This study used literature,Delphi,analytic hierarchy process,questionnaire survey and mathematical statistics method to investigate the physical activities in different genders,grades and suburbs.explore the relationship between school environment and physical activity and the main influencing factors,the results of this study indicate that:(1)The physical activity time of children and adolescents in China is relatively low.The MVPA time and S-MVPA time of boys are significantly higher than girls.The urban is higher than suburb,and the physical activity time increases first and then decreases with the grades.(2)The overall score of the school environment is well,but the sports organization scores the lowest.girls scored higher than boys,but there is no significant difference.The suburban school environment is better than urban and it shows a downward trend from primary to high school.(3)The school environment has a significant impact on MVPA and S-MVPA time.Peer support is an important factor affecting the MVPA and S-MVPA time of children and adolescents(4)Sports activities have significant effects on physical activity time of boys and girls.Sports facilities have significant influence on girls' MVPA and S-MVPA time,and sports organizations have on girl's S-MVPA.Leadership attaches importance to boys' MVPA time.(5)Sports activities is an important factor affecting the MVPA time of primary and junior high school students.Primary schools also have leadership attention and sports facilities.High school is PE teacher.the S-MVPA time factor of primary school students are sports activities,leadership attention,sports organizations and sports facilities.Junior high school is peer support,and high school is PE teacher.(6)Leadership attention is a common factor affecting urban MVPA and S-MVPA time.PE teacher have an important influence on urban MVPA time,Sports activities and sports facilities on urban S-MVPA time.The influence factors of MVPA and SMVPA time in suburban are sports organization and sports activities.This study draws the following conclusions:(1)The level of physical activity of children and adolescents in China is low,and physical activities of schools occupy a major part.(2)The overall score of the school environment is good,but the school sports organization is weak.(3)The school environment has significant impact on the MVPA and S-MVPA time of children and adolescents.Peer support is an important factor.
