The secondary school stage is a key period for students to improve their artistic taste and form their aesthetic value.It is also an important period for students to receive quality education.In recent years,with the continuous promotion and popularization of quality-oriented education,the basic education in China has made considerable progress,at the same time,the quality of students sees outstanding improvement in all aspects.However,in some areas where the level of economic development is relatively backward,such as Xinyang,music teaching in secondary schools is still facing many problems.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to further study the current situation of music teaching in Xinyang's secondary schools.Taking 9 secondary schools in Xinyang city,county and township levels as the objects of study,the author adopts the methods of literature review,questionnaire survey,interview,statistical analysis and field study to investigate the current situation of music teaching in Xinyang's secondary schools.The author has received some necessary information about those 9 schools,including the music courses,faculty,students,music teaching hardware resources and facilities.The author's investigation reflects the current situation of music teaching in Xinyang's secondary schools in an all-round manner.This paper analyzes objectively the problems existing in the present situation of music teaching in those areas and offers several suggestions.The paper is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the development of quality-oriented education in China,the relationship between music education and quality-oriented education,the reasons for selecting this topic,the status quo of relevant research,the research objects and research methods of this paper.The second part is the investigation and analysis of the present situation of music teaching in Xinyang region.It mainly includes the condition of existing music courses,teaching staff,students and teaching infrastructure.Through analyzing and summarizing the data,the author finds out the problems in music teaching,such as low opening rate of music courses,low usage rate of teaching materials and excessive regional subject bias,unbalanced number of teaching staff,the poor teaching hardware resources and low utilization rate.The third part is a case design of simulated teaching in secondary school music classroom from the perspective of quality-oriented education.Taking Xixian No.3 Middle School,Shihe Middle School and Xixian High School as examples,a case of study was designed and simulated teaching was carried out according to their common teaching problems.The fourth part includes some suggestions on the improvement of music teaching in Xinyang region's secondary schools,such as,strengthening the idea of quality-oriented education to further create the aesthetic education environment,deepening the heuristic and interactive teaching effectively,improving the quality of music teaching resources in an effort to make best use of them,building a team of high-quality teaching staff by planning vocational training.
