Traditional villages,as a living cultural heritage, carry the genes and blood of the Chinese nation, and are an important space for "nostalgia".Under the background of rural transformation, how to coordinate the relationship between protection, utilization and development and maintain the integrity, authenticity and continuity of traditional villages is particularly important.Based on this, from the perspective of landscape gene repair and cultural gene repair, taking Zhangguying Village and Huangdu Village in Hunan Province as examples, this paper explores the development path and spatial characteristics of traditional villages' human settlements transformation under self-organization mode and Hetero-organization mode, and compares and analyses the adaptive subjects, development logic, dynamic evolution and sustainable development under different development modes.Conclusion:(1)Under the self-organization mode, the evolution mechanism of the traditional village human settlements environment system is flexible and effective, but the system stability is poor. The human settlements environment system under the Hetero-organization mode is relatively solidified and has strong integrity and stage stability, but lacks certain effectiveness.(2)The dominant factor of self-organization development comes from the endogenous force mainly consisting of villagers, which can continuously optimize itself in the interaction with external environment. It has high initiative and strong ability of innovation and adaptation. Most of its organizations are dominated by external forces, such as government and social forces. Its endogenous force is weak, its transformation mechanism is relatively solidified, and its self-optimizing ability in the interaction with external environment.Limited power, low ability of initiative innovation and adaptability;(3)Under the self-organization mode, the concept of "double repair" can achieve better subsidence and development for villagers.Affected by factors such as the ability and role of the dominant person, the concept of "double repair" often takes priority in cultural genes such as family customs, family training and folk beliefs that are directly related to the villagers, while the concept of "double repair" is relatively inadequate for landscape genes, which are characterized by the priority of cultural gene repair and the priority of landscape gene repair. After that, the transformation and development of human settlements in villages showed undulating paths as a whole, but under his organizational model, the concept of "double repair" was relatively poor, and "double repair" mostly focused on the more intuitive part ofthe village landscape gene, while the attention to deeper cultural genes was relatively weak. Its development logic was opposite to self-organization,showing a ladder-like development path.(4)Under the self-organization mode, villagers' spatial behavior has greater autonomy, coupled with the lack of scientific planning guidance in the process of "double-repair",so the effect of "double-repair" in villages is relatively chaotic and lacks certain logic and integrity in space.Under the influence of external institutions, the "double repair" under his organizational model shows strong normativeness and orderliness, and the overall pattern of the village presents a concentric circle structure around the core area of the village.
