Knowledge management is becoming more and more important for individual learners,because of its ability of helping learners to better understand,manage and transfer the knowledge they have learned.One of the most important aspects of knowledge management is how to externally visualize what the learners have learned.Although mind tools,ontology and knowledge graph are the most popular methods to interpret and organize knowledge,those methods have significant flaws in simulating the knowledge images which are stored in learners' minds because they are not flexible enough to simulate the multi-faceted relations among knowledge,which made them be difficult in extracting and building knowledge from the learning text automatically.Semantic Link Network(SLN)is another method to organize knowledge,it can be used to describe and construct knowledge,as well as to visually present the linked knowledge graph with intuitive features.A self-regulated online learning system is designed and implemented in this paper,the system provides knowledge management service,as well as the visually presented structures of the knowledge.Nine major primary knowledge points and 21 secondary knowledge points which are important in the learning of the “C Programming” course are integrated in the platform.Each knowledge point has multiple kinds of learning resources which are in different media expression.The platform not limited in providing basic services for the users,also provides the services of visually displaying the SLN graphs of the embedded knowledge resources,machine-extract nodes and "example of" relations,self-feedbacks,and the assessment regarding users' learning effects of the knowledge.This paper is organized as follows: In the first chapter,the author proposed the research background of this paper,and analyzed the related works about knowledge visualization.The research objectives of this work is also being proposed in this chapter;In the second chapter,the theories and technologies which are used in this work were introduced,including knowledge visualization theory,semantic link network,and general intelligence theory of knowledge;The third chapter introduced the visual designs that are needed in a self-regulated learning environment.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the self-regulated learning,the paper proposed four visual requirements for the self-regular learning environment,as well as the SLN based representation of knowledge visualization;In the fourth chapter,the author explained the specific details of implementing the knowledge visualization based on the online learning system embedded with 9 knowledge nodes of C language.Five kinds of the visualization were implemented in this paper,they are the visualization of various media presented learning resources,the visualization of the embedded structured learning resources,the visualization of the machine extracted nodes and “example of” relation,the visualization of the learner's self-feedback information and the visualization of the instant evaluation of the learning effects of the learners;The fifth chapter displayed the knowledge graphs that are described in the fourth chapter.In the final chapter,the author made the conclusion and summary of this paper,and at the same time,put forward the shortcomings of this study and the prospects of the future work.
