With the rapid development of private higher education,private universities have become an important part of China's higher education,and become an important force to promote the development of higher education.As the highest executive of school,the headmaster plays a vital role in the development process in the school,although the chairman has the highest control in private colleges,but the president is still an important factor restricting the development of the school,and the headmaster will play a more and more important role in the future development of private colleges and universities.This paper will based on the principal of private college leadership as the main content,through the study of principal leadership characteristics of private colleges,exploring characteristics of private college leadership,studying principal of private college leadership how to promoting the development of private universities,seeking ways for the establishment of effective principals in management mechanism,exploring the way to promote the development of China's private higher education.The characteristics of principals in private universities are the core factors that influence principals' work and management.The explicit leadership traits include gender,age,educational background and professional background,and implicit leadership traits includes character,personality,intelligence and ability.From the three main aspects of the demographic background,educational background and professional background,this paper makes an empirical analysis of the external leadership characteristics of the principals of 470 private colleges and universities in China,and understands the leadership characteristics of the principals of private colleges and universities in our country.In addition,this paper further explores the implicit leadership characteristics of the principals of private colleges and universities in two different types of private colleges and universities,so as to excavate the effective leadership characteristics that promote the development of private colleges and universities,which will be the focus and innovation of this study.This article mainly adopts the method of combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis,and applies literature,data statistical analysis,investigation and observation.Based on quantities of literature,the paper establishes the research direction,and through explicit information on the principal leadership collection to establish information database.In addition to the two private colleges in the case study conducted field research,the paper provides an objective and first-hand data and information for this study.The first chapter of the paper mainly discusses the purpose and significance of the study,as well as the definition of the related concepts,and discusses the theoretical basis of the research,the object,method and research content of the research.The second chapter mainly studies the literature of "principal" and "leadership characteristics" at home and abroad.The third chapter makes a systematic and comprehensive statistical analysis on the external leadership characteristics of the principals of private colleges and universities in China,and understands the principals of private colleges and universities as a whole.The fourth chapter studies the implicit leadership characteristics of the principals of two private colleges and universities through a case study,and further enriches the leadership characteristics of the principals of private colleges and universities.The last chapter is the conclusion and suggestion of this paper.
