On The Relationship Between Academic Pressure And Self-contentment Of College Students:the Role Of Resilience As A Mediator

A comprehensive evaluation on life satisfaction and individual emotional state mainly comes from a sense of subjective well-being(abbreviated as SWB).It is not only used to measure the quality of individual' slife,but also is an important comprehensive index in psychological evaluation.When people face dilemmas or pressure,the resilience,which is a psychological reactive state,can adjust dynamically through the interaction between environment and inherence to adapt to environment.As a personal trait,the resilience has a great impact on SWB and it has guiding significances in improving college students' mental health.Although scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of research on factors that influences SWB,few of them view the resilience as a mediate variable and analyze its influences on well-being.However,they only chiefly analyzed the relationship between single factor and SWB.By adopting College Students' Learning Stress Questionnaire(revised by Chen Fangrong from Fujian Normal University),CD-RISC(revised by Yu Xiaonan from CUHK,2007)and GWBS(revised by Duan Jianhua,1996),this study investigates 490 undergraduates from three universities in Hunan,exploring the relation among students' resilience,learning stress and SWB in an attempt to analyze the mediating role of resilience between stress and SWB.The result goes as follows:(1)College students' SWB is close to national norm.The SWB of female students is slightly higher than national norm.The levels of SWB vary in major and grades.When it comes to male or female,single child or many children,urban or rural,the differences are not remarkable.(2)There is a negative correlation betwen college students' SWB and learning stress,while there is a positive correlation between the resilience and SWB.(3)The resilience plays a mediating role between SWB and learning stress.
