Study On Social Functions Of Contemporary Clan Organizations

Historically,China has a deep traditional culture in clan,which has played an important role in traditional society of China,even that it is the basis of the entire social structure.With the development of our times,the structure of the clan has changed,so its social functions have undergone varying degrees of changes.In the social course of development,economic interest continuously impels the transformation and development of the Mengshi Clan Friendship Association as a representative of clan association in traditional China.Moreover,the social function has also been reconstructed,which is not stereotypical but changing and dissolving along with the changing ages.Thus,analyzing the clan association is a key pointcut for studying Chinese society.As a representative of clan association in China,the Mengshi Clan Friendship Association contains some important characteristics,including blood,geography,degree,industry and interest.Based on the research in earlier stage,the Mengshi Clan Friendship Association is studied through the ethnology and anthropology.Then,its social functions are summarized by observation and in-depth interviews on the basis of relevant theories.Specifically speaking,considered its large population and the complete structure,the Mengshi Clan Friendship Association is selected as the object for research.Then,the investigation on field has been done for more than one year,the first-hand materials on field have been collected and sorted from the objects.The birth of the Mengshi Clan Association is introduced by reviewing the rise of the domestic clan association.Then,the establishment and experience of the Mengshi Clan Friendship Association in Jilin Province are introduced.Among them,inheritance of Chinese traditional culture is firstly mentioned,introducing its public activities.And contributing to the emotional exchange in Mengshi clan,the social functions of Mengshi Clan Friendship Association are concluded,including identification,education,entertainment,social contact,mutual assistance,and resource integration.According to these analyses,the traditional social functions have been founded,and functional transformation has been discussed.Then,we can realize that the clan association is pursuing the economic interests and appealing for the social governance and control,and has an obvious the orientation for traditional culture.Functions of the contemporary clan association have been understood from different angles,which is a reference for further understanding of the contemporary development and social function of clan association,and the inheritance and influence from the clan culture.Furthermore,it can be studied by different regions and surnames for reference as a case support.Meanwhile,it is an enlightenment on the research of the clan association and culture.
