Private higher professional education is multiply featured with private education,higher education and professional education.Private higher professional colleges are special compared with public regular institutions of higher learning.To operate private higher professional colleges well,the teaching faculties,especially the young teaching team construction is the key.With the expansion of private higher professional colleges in size,there has been a year-by-year increase of the proportion of young teachers.The professional development of young teachers has become an important practical problem for the growth of private higher professional colleges.The professional development of young teachers can be interpreted in accordance with the theory of teacher specialization,human capital theory,self-actualization theory and career rainbow theory.In line with the nature and mission of private higher professional colleges,the young teaching faculties in higher professional colleges should make the following goals for their professional development,namely knowledge-to expand the scope of knowledge and optimize the knowledge structure,technical ability-to improve the ability to apply and practice technologies,teaching ability-to improve the ability in teaching design and organization,as well as the art of teaching,and professional ethics-to comply with and carry forward the service ideals and ethical spirits of the teaching profession.The effective means for young teachers in higher professional colleges to realize their professional development goals include the improvement of knowledge level by way of targeted training,improvement of the technical ability by way of practice in the enterprises,improvement of the teaching ability by way of action research,and improvement of professional ethics by way of teaching experience.The professional development of young teachers in private higher professional colleges is a common issue,but it is also unique in different colleges,which means a case study on this issue is very necessary.Based on a case study of Hunan Urban Professional College-a typical private higher professional college,this paper aims to study and solve the professional development issue of young teachers in private higher professional colleges.A series of measures are taken by Hunan Urban Professional College to promote the professional development of young teachers,including the construction in college system and governance ability,specialty group and characteristic specialty,curriculum design,teaching material,famed teaching faculty office,teaching team,teaching and scientific research practice,social service ability,teacher ethics as well as incentive policy.These measures are of some practical and reference significance,but further explorations are still needed as the situation develops.Young teachers',professional development is a contemporaneity subj ect.
