Statistical activities are important in children's mathematics learning.Conducting statistical teaching,cultivating children's interest in participating in statistical activities,using statistical methods,and improving children's statistical thinking and ability not only help to improve children's ability to solve problems,but also It is conducive to guiding young children to understand the world scientifically and objectively.The picture book is figurative,interesting,situational and educational.It can stimulate children's interest,provide reasonable problem scenarios for statistical teaching,and introduce standardized statistical charts.It is one of the important resources for statistical teaching activities.This study takes the action research method as the main line,combined with the survey method,interview method,observation method,and work analysis method.The researcher and teacher Y of class A of Chengdu D kindergarten conducted an action study for nearly three months in class A taking 30 children from class A as the research objects.First of all,the researcher developed the activity plan of the study together with the cooperative teacher through pretesting the statistical thinking ability of the children,interviewing the teachers of senior class and observing the children,combining the statistical teaching objectives,the selected picture books,and the physical and mental characteristics of the children.Then,the researcher assisted teacher Y to carry out teaching activities in class A in the form of a combination of picture book teaching activities and theme-based extension activities,through the action cycle of “planning – action – observation – reflection – new plan”to explore the feasible scheme of carrying out statistical teaching activities with pictures as the carrier;finally,through the post-testing of the statistical thinking ability of the A-class children,the interview and observation of the cooperativeteacher and young children,and the self-reflection of the researcher and the cooperative teacher,to research the impact of young children and cooperative teacher.The study found that take picture books as a carrier for statistical teaching activities is quite effective;for young children,it has increased their statistical awareness and interest in participating in statistical activities,let them master the methods of making and analyzing basic statistical charts,and developed their statistical thinking ability;For cooperative teacher,her statistical teaching concept has been changed,and the ability to carry out statistical teaching activities has been improved.The study believes that the picture book can effectively support the children's statistical teaching activities;the statistical teaching should adopt the form of thematic comprehensive activities,mainly including the picture book teaching activities and series of extension activities;the question contents of statistical teaching activities are mainly from the picture book scene and the children's daily life;implementing statistical teaching activities should interpret the picture books correctly,set up problem scenarios skillfully,make the activities fun,and focus on operations and practices.Based on the research conclusions,the following educational suggestions are proposed: firstly,teachers should pay attention to statistical related picture books,and exert the important carrier value of it;secondly,attach importance to the creation of statistical teaching environment,and perceive statistics in subtle ways;thirdly,create appropriate teaching problem scenarios,and learn statistics through solving problem;fourthly,combine statistics activities with children's daily life,and use statistical method in natural integration;lastly,learn data characterization methods gradually,from record optionally to use normative charts.
