With the rapid development of information technology, our way of life and learning is gradually changed. The integration of technology into the field of education has attracted the attention of many educators.Physics,as a practical subject, plays an important role in its experiments. However, according to the investigation, there are many problems in middle school physics experiment curriculum, such as lack of experiment resources, old experiment equipment and teachers’ indifference. Therefore,in order to better promote the development of experimental courses and assist teachers and students to carry out experiments, technology is urgently needed. The rise of virtual reality technology brings opportunities for the development of virtual experiment platform, which can effectively fill the shortage of traditional experiments and cultivate students’ practical ability.Through literature research, questionnaire survey, interview and other findings, this paper finds that although there are many virtual experiment platforms, most of them are concentrated in universities and companies, and they are expensive and not completely virtual.Meanwhile, the feedback of middle school teachers is still almost in the traditional experimental way. Therefore,it is of great significance to design and develop the virtual experiment platform according to the needs of teachers and students, and to study the physics experiment course in junior middle school from both theoretical and practical aspects. The ultimate purpose of the design and implementation of any educational platform is to serve teaching, which is inseparable from the guidance of theoretical basis.Dell’s "tower of experience",cognitive learning theory, constructivist learning theory and independent learning theory provide a solid theoretical basis for the design and development of virtual experimental platform.According to the characteristics of current virtual reality technology, this platform USES Unity3 D and 3Dmax software as development tools.Through interviews and questionnaires with teachers and students of chongqing jiangjin baisha middle school and zigong fushun no.1 middle school, data such as experimental teaching situation of front-line teachers and use of multimedia experimental equipment are collected.Through the analysis of the questionnaire, the platform requirements, design objectives and design principles are established, and the functional modules of the virtual experimental platform are divided.3Dmax was used to establish the scene and device model, and interaction design was carried out through the components in Unity3 D,C# and JavaScript scripting language, and finally the function and performance test of the platform was completed. To explore the impact of the virtual experiment platform for students to experiment, through the concrete teaching experiment, experimental classes and that in comparative classes performance data,as well as the experimental class questionnaire data, from the students’ interest in learning attitude, learning engagement, satisfaction, knowledge level four dimensions for data analysis,it is concluded that the introduction of the virtual experiment platform for the students’ learning interest, involvement, knowledge level improved, but the performance of the test did not show significant effect, still need to be further explored. Finally, some Suggestions for reflection and improvement are put forward. This paper is an exploration of the design and construction of virtual experiment platform and its application in physics discipline, hoping to help students to understand and master experimental knowledge,so as to promote the informatization of junior middle school physics experiment teaching.
