In the information age of knowledge explosion and rapid development of science and technology, students' access to knowledge cannot be limited to textbooks and classrooms, the content of teachers' teaching cannot be limited to theoretical knowledge and test-taking skills as well.Teaching should create all favorable conditions for students to broaden the horizon of scientific cognition, improve self-learning ability and develop the key competence of subjects.Reading is one of the ways for students to gain knowledge.Reading can develop students' learning abilities of information processing, problem analysis, evidence reasoning and evaluation reflection etc.,which is very important for the study of any subject.Based on the requirements of the new curriculum standards and the reform of the new college entrance examination, this study proposes a chemical expanding reading from the three dimensions of learning content, learning space and learning style.Under the guidance of constructivism and cognitive development theory, this paper analyzes the current status of relevant research from domestic and abroad, the requirements of the new curriculum standards for the expanding reading teaching and the characteristics of the expanding reading content in the compulsory 1 of the Jiangsu Education Edition, which shows that the teachers need to further develop and process the teaching materials.Through literature research and questionnaire survey,we can find out the awareness and use of expanding reading of high school students, and clearly put forward that it is crucial important and necessary to cultivate key competence of subjects for integrating reading into classroom teaching.Focusing on the principles of expanding reading teaching, this paper proposes the teaching strategy of integrating expanding reading into teaching for cultivating students' key competence of chemistry that it includes developing content of expanding reading, designing methods of expanding reading and merging teaching. With themes of the history of chemistry, chemistry in life, chemistry and industry and environmental protection etc.,the six columns such as "famous chemists","useful chemical knowledge","promising chemical industries","promising chemistry majors","interesting chemistry experiments" and "green chemistry" etc.have been designed in terms of content; They are displayed in the combination of the paper version of the guiding case and the electronic version of the WeChat public account, which are applied in three stages: pre-class preparation, class discussion and post-class extension. The two cases of "Production Principle of Chlorine Gas" and "Aluminum Extraction from Bauxite" were selected for teaching design,Class 7 Grade 1 in one of the Longhai high schools was used as the experimental class, meanwhile,Class 9 in the same grade was appointed as the comparison class, and they are evaluated in both academic achievements and student interview records, the results show that the experimental class is significantly better than the comparison class in academic performance. It has a positive effect in stimulating learning interest, enhancing learning motivation and improving learning ability as well as deepening understanding of the essence, value and humanity of the subject, which help enhance the formation and development of key competence of subject. In addition, for the students with different needs,it also has impact on learning attitudes, learning styles and moral education. Therefore, expanding reading is not only a supplement and expansion of the course contents, but also a kind of support to achieve the teaching objectives;it can meet the needs of different students, but also can change their cognitive styles. It is an effective teaching strategy for cultivating key competence of chemistry subject for high school students.
