In the process of adapting a foreign student management form, there are always some transformations carried out by local schools to adapt the local social background and the needs of schools themselves. This study takes the House System as the main research object, which is a traditional management style of English countries(especially the Commonwealth countries).Through literature review, the author has sorted out the main characteristics and the history of the House System.Besides, the author has done a case study in School D,which is a sino-foreign cooperation high school. The operation of the House System and the experience and feelings of teachers and students are presented in the thesis.Furthermore, through comparing the local and foreign House System, this thesis has explored the localization and effectiveness of the House system in school D.This study has found that the House system can involve in all the teachers and students, promote the development of teacher-student relationship, expand the social scope of students, provide pastoral care for students, and thus enhance the campus atmosphere. The House Systems in School D and foreign schools are similar, but school D’s House System has mixed with some other organizational forms, including classes, grades and school associations, and thus school D has to find a way to make those different forms coexist and cooperate with each other.Meanwhile, among the schools that implement the House System abroad,Houses are the main organizations for students. This difference has caused some slight differences in the implementation effects between school D and other foreign schools.School D has a more obvious functional conflicts among those forms, and both teachers and students are also facing with multiple role conflicts.Although the House System can promote the teacher-student relationship, the tutors in the school D pay more attention to provide students with academic counseling and guidance, while the tutors in the foreign schools tend to provide students with A wider range of pastoral care.In addition, school D is facing with the dilemma of integrating some foreign teachers with language barriers, which has never reported in foreign schools.Although the establishment of the school D’s House system is still short, and the details of the operation are slightly rough, but it is still a valuable research case.
