Measure Of College Academic Atmosphere Index System

Strong academic atmosphere is the life and soul of a university, which also plays an important role in training academic researchers. At present we have such problems in domestic universities, such as lack of academic atmosphere, systematic theory, scientific and rational measure index systems and so on. In order to build a better academic atmosphere and train up more high-quality research talents, we established an academic atmosphere evaluation system for a university which is based on the theoretical explorations and two round of questionnaires (including comments and suggestions from thirty-six education experts) using Delphi method.The academic atmosphere evaluation system of a university contains twenty-six concrete targets under four levels, including academic members, academic resources, academic management systems and academic activities. The academic members are the soul in forming excellent academic atmosphere, while their academic spirit, academic morality and tolerance are the key characters. The academic resources is the necessary condition in forming strong academic atmosphere in a university, and also it is raw material in creating new knowledge, spiritual food in establishing new personalities. The academic management system is a strong guarantee in forming excellent academic atmosphere, in which freedom of Institution is the most important. Academic activities are the direct manifestation in measuring an academic atmosphere of a university, and many new thoughts are boomed from this kind of communications.In the study we construct an academic atmosphere evaluation system and its weight for a university by using empirical methods, which is very useful in investigating a university academic atmosphere. But the concrete operation remains to be improved later in practice.
