With the advancement of the balanced development of compulsory education in China, rural primary education has developed greatly, and art education hasreceived more and more attention. However, painting teaching was used mainly instead of manual teaching in the fields of “design, application”,“styling and performance” in rural art teaching. The thesis demonstrated the extension and promotion of manual teaching in primary art teaching through the research on the needs of primary art curriculum, the cognitive ability and interest of primary students. The manual teaching can not only stimulate students' interest in learning art,but also help to cultivate students' core competence in practical ability, aesthetic ability, creativity and way of thinking.Meanwhile, the manual materials, which were diverse and can help cultivate students' love and responsibility for nature and human society, played an irreplaceable role among all courses. As a result,it is necessary to introduce manual teaching to art teaching. The results showed that Chen Yu Primary School was suitable for manual teaching through reviewing the requirements of the art curriculum standards in the compulsory education stage, investigating the existing teaching situation.Firstly,The advantages and characteristics of Chen Yu primary school manual classes were analysed by developing characteristic textbooks, using existing resources, improving the professional quality of rural teachers.Secondly, the possibility of introducing manual teaching to primary school was tested from a practical perspective.Lastly,a research on how to use manual courses to stimulate students' love life and inheriting folk art was implemented in order to achieve the unity of theory and practice, process and results thus developing a low-cost,broad-based,high-efficiency,and sustainable aesthetic education road for primary art education.
